Once in a while, the TV show you begin looking is now not precisely the one you end up with.
Take CBS’ B Positive, which with the 3rd episode of its sophomore season launched what it has dubbed “Chapter 2” (read the inside story).
Whereas Season 1 of the multi-cam sitcom became about Drew, a man in need of a kidney, and Gina, his not going donor, Season 2 followed up the a hit transplant surgical treatment with a economic windfall for Gina, steerage her existence — and in turn the series — in a very new direction.
Changing path midstream is not totally extraordinary for a TV show, as our round-up less than demonstrates. Sometimes, instant viewer (or worse, network exec) comments will “nudge” a showrunner to highlight or downplay sure usual aspects. On the flip side, on occasion in the later years of a demonstrate’s run — either due to a wave of solid exits/changes, or simply out of a need for a creative “refresh” — a premise will be revisited and revised.
Again, the following is a list of displays that meaningfully altered their customary premise (no longer simply tone or characters) at a few aspect after premiering. Not covered are displays that converted their identify as they evolved (e.g. Three’s Company turning into Three’s a Crowd), or the ones that readily modified geographical settings (Laverne & Shirley was in fact the comparable reveal upon moving from Milwaukee to Hollywood).
Which of those change-ups do you be aware watching spread in genuine time?
And which were for the better… or not?
